Makes 2 quarts
1½ cups vodka
6 cups tomato juice
½ cup lemon or lime juice
4 tsp grated horseradish, fresh or preserved in vinegar
2 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp hot red pepper sauce
1 tsp sugar
3 large, fresh lovage stalks with leaves
Combine all ingredients in a large pitcher, bruising the lovage by hand as you put it in.
Let steep for 20 minutes, then remove the lovage.
Serve over ice, with a small lovage stalk in each glass if desired.
